Directions: Read Text IV and answer questions 06, 07 and 08 accordingly. 

TEXT IV 

I know I shall meet my fate

Somewhere among the clouds above;

Those that I fight I do not hate,

Those that I guard I do not love;

My country is Kiltartan Cross,

My countrymen Kiltartan’s poor,

No likely end could bring them loss

Or leave them happier than before.

Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,

Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,

A lonely impulse of delight

Drove to this tumult in the clouds;

I balanced all, brought all to mind,

The years to come seemed waste of breath,

A waste of breath the years behind

In balance with this life, this death.

In Text IV, the following phrase refers to dying: 

a) meet my fate. (encontrar meu destino)

b) waste of breath. (desperdício de sorte)

c) tumult in the clouds. (nuvens emaranhadas)

d) impulse of delight. (impulso de prazer)

 ➧ O poema ritmado "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death", fala de Um aviador irlandês que prevê a sua morte. Na 1ª linha, o substantivo FATE em "I know I shall meet my fate" é usado no sentido de "DEATH = DYING = morte".

 ➧ Portanto, contextualmente, a frase da opção (A) MEET MY FATE (encontrar o meu destino) e equivalente MEET THE DYING (encontrar a morte).

➧ Perceba que FATE (na 1ª linha) rima com HATE (na 3ª linha).
