SMALL DOG HELPS A GIRL

A four year-old Chihuahua named Honey may be small, but she makes up for it in courage. She showed this skill off after a much bigger pit bull attacked her owner's granddaughter, Jenna. Honey came to her rescue, bravely drawing the aggressive dog away. People later caught the pit bull and put it down.
The pit bull had bit Jenna so badly that she needed over a hundred stitches to fix her eye and hours of surgery. It could have been much worse, however, if the brave Chihuahua had not sprung into action.

The proposed contents for the third and fourth cycles are based on the fact that the use of language in communication involves the knowledge (word and textual organization) and the ability to use this knowledge for the social construction of meanings in comprehending written and oral production. The contents are organized around four axes: world knowledge, systemic knowledge, types of text and attitude.

Considering this explanation, choose the alternative that presents the right facts about the contents in the English language teaching.

a) The organization by axes seeks to highlight the importance of each one of them in the process of teaching and learning. They should not, however, be treated independently, since there is a connection between the contents indicated in each one of them
b) The focus in content management should not be on learning strategies of constructing meanings through the Foreign Language, since the discursive engagement of the student is not emphasized by providing the learning of a language through the learning of how to use it.
c) The starting point for the treatment of the contents is by the student's previous knowledge about his or her mother tongue; Therefore, the main criteria of grading the units is the familiarity the students have with their teachers, the contents don‟t matter.
d) None of the above

We live in a society and in which the ability to obtain, work, disseminate, grouping, classifying and, above all, building knowledge determines our position and space. It is expected that today the educator should be ready to adapt to the new. In that, it is able to learn the new knowledge, to reflect on them and to solve the problems that may arise.

Thinking over the role of the professor in the English teaching language, choose the correct alternative.

a) Extend the communication horizon of the teacher beyond his or her language community, that is, to make it understand that there is a heterogeneity in the use of any language, heterogeneity in this contextual, social, cultural and historical.
b) Making the student understands that in certain contexts (formal, informal, official, religious, oral, written, etc.), in certain historical moments (in the distant past, a few years back in the present), in other communities (in your own neighborhood, in your own city, in your country, as in other countries), people belong to different groups in different contexts and they need to communicate in different and different ways.
c) Make the apprentice understands, therefore, that there are several ways of organizing, categorizing and expressing the human experience and of carrying out financial interactions through language.
d) None of the above

 TEXTO 6:

PRIVATE COLLEGE PAYS STUDENT FOR SLOW MARKING

A private college has paid £1,377 to a former student who claimed that slow feedback and marking led to her course certificate being issued months late. Monika Maldrik says the delay by ABI college in west London meant she "lost a year". The college was initially ordered to pay her £5,000 but this was reduced to £1,377 at a later hearing. A representative for the college said late feedback was the only part of her claim that the court had upheld.

Part-time career

The issue has since been rectified, said the representative. Ms Maldrik, from Margate in Kent, who works part-time as a career, received her Higher National Diploma in health and social care management in June this year - more than a year after the course ended. The college contested an order for £5,000, made against it in May by the County Court Money Claims Centre. Last month,

Thanet County Court reduced the amount payable to £1,377, including £277 costs. Ms Maldrik says she is disappointed not to have received the higher amount and still maintains that she did not get a satisfactory service during the two-year course. The college rejects the bulk of her criticisms but accepts that changes in teaching personnel did cause some delays in marking assignments, an issue that it says has now been resolved.

TEN YEARS OF FEAR, GRIEF, REVENGE AND RESILIENCE
The Samaritan
By John Maguire
It is one of the day's most familiar and most chilling images: rescue workers carrying the beloved Fire Department chaplain Father Mychal Judge from the rubble. But the man nearest Judge was no rescue worker: he was a 28-year-old associate at Goldman Sachs. Seeing papers flying in the air outside his office, he headed into the chaos on the ground. Just
after the first tower fell, he found the men struggling to carry the dying Judge. It was too late to perform CPR, so John Maguire started back toward Ground Zero. Then the second tower collapsed. “I jumped under a truck, and everything went black,” he recalls. “I thought, ‘I guess this is how it’s going to end.’ “

Maguire eventually made it to the apartment of his sister, who showed him the photo the next day: “It seemed surreal.” He found solace in an unexpected place. Recalled to active duty, the West Point graduate served as a civic-affairs officer in Iraq from 2006 to 2007. Doing so was his therapy, alleviating a crushing sense of futility. Today, Maguire is back at Goldman. "_______( I )________ because I commute through that site every day."

Rock Bridge School Benefit
S. Stills, R. Furay and N. Young of Buffalo Springfield perform together during the Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountain View, Calif. Associated Press photo/Eric Risber.

The annual Bridge School Benefit has featured special acoustic sets by everybody from David Bowie and Paul McCartney to Metallica and Phish. But for the 24th edition, on October 23rd and 24th, organizer Neil Young unveiled a stunning finale: the first set since 1968 by his old band Buffalo Springfield. "From my perspective, we just picked up where we left off many, many years ago," says singer Richie Furay. “It was almost like going back in time.”

Over two chilly, wet days at the Shoreline Amphitheater near San Francisco, babyboomers and local dot-com kids gathered for a remarkable, eclectic
lineup: Jackson Browne and David Lindley tackled Bruce Springsteen’s 1983 “Brothers Under the Bridge”; Kris Kristofferson broke out “Me and Bobby McGee”; Billy Idol revved up the crowd with a singalong on “Rebel Yell”; and Pearl Jam blasted through their eighth appearance at the benefit. At the end of their set, which included “Black” and “Better
Man”, Young joined them on his new tune “Walk With Me.” “We played it for him backstage, and he said, ‘That’s basically it, but let me show you what you aren’t playing,’ ”says Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard. "We _____( I )_____ an interaction with him that __( II )__ a lesson in the sheer, raw love of rock.”
